The Einstein Enigma

Independent Reading: Book 4 Week 3
Title: The Einstein Enigma
Author: Jose Rodrigues Dos Santos
Country: Lisbon, Portugal

As I’m reading this book, it keeps feeling like I’m on an emotional roller coaster. The reason for this is because at one point, “The Einstein Enigma” made me cry and then suddenly made me laugh. The author, Jose Rodrigues Dos Santos, does a good job of intensifying every scene in the book. He builds up the tension so that you can feel and understand the importance of every part. So far this book has mostly been about the government and national security. The further I get into the book, the more confusing it gets. This book is all about confidential information. Every page contains a secret so confidential that it cannot be told over the phone. The main character, Thomas, just decided to go to Lisbon. Somehow, while he was there, he got caught up in this situation that took control of his life and made him see the world differently. Getting put in the middle of this situation was not something Thomas put on his “To-do” list. I believe that Santos does a lot of foreshadowing in his books because every secret that has been told hasn’t been too good. For example, his mother and father visited Thomas in Lisbon to tell Thomas a secret. The secret was that his father has been diagnosed with lung cancer. Also, his dad’s best friend is suddenly missing and there may be a terrorist in Lisbon. I think all of this information is leading up to a tragedy. This book is the most interesting one I’ve read so far. However, something about this book that I do not really enjoy is that it is somewhat confusing and because after something interesting happens in the book, it suddenly ends and the author moves on to another topic. The intensity of the book is not really continuous. Other that that, I like the main point of this book?

The Einstein Enigma

The book I am reading is called, “The Einstein Enigma” by Jose Rodrigues Dos Santos. This book is my favorite of all four.  Let me tell you why.  From what I’ve read, I know that the Prime Minister of Israeli is urging scientist Albert Einstein to create an atomic bomb to save Israeli. Einstein is indecisive about doing it. Another topic they discuss is God. Einstein may be intelligent, but what these men both don’t know is that the CIA is across the street hearing every word they’re saying.  However, when Einstein and the Prime Minister start speaking in German, the CIA cannot understand.  That was just how the book started.  I think this book is my favorite of all four books because it deals with Albert Einstein who I’ve actually heard of. Also, this book is suspenseful and full of surprises.  The government, CIA, and FBI are all involved, which makes it more interesting in my opinion.

Something that I’ve noticed throughout this book is that it has a lot of imagery.  For example, there is one quote that says, “The sun was shining; shrubbery tinged the charming gardens green; pretty wooden houses faced the street; leaves rustled in the light morning breeze.”  I think that Jose Rodrigues Dos Santos did a good job of writing this book.  That is because every part with dialogue and every scene is explained in depth.  He is not really vague about anything.  This makes the book easier to understand.  I think that when a novel is easier to understand it makes the reader enjoy it more. I enjoy this book because it gives information that the public may have never knew about before.  It is a mystery and it is suspenseful.  Those are my favorite kinds of books.  The question though was is this book fiction or fact?  I’ll have to keep reading to know for sure.  I am happy that I picked a book I love?
